A Little Bit of History
Early in 1997 a trader calling himself Mikey
appeared on the old
Commodity Talk discussion forum. He stood out
immediately, partly because of a sharp tongue that spared nobody and an outrageous sense of humor...you either hated him or
loved him, he just wasn't a middle ground kinda guy.
But love him or hate him, you had to admit he also had an uncanny knack of calling
the markets in advance almost to the penny, a streak that persisted through
2000. This certainly made folks sit up and take notice at the time,
and also helped imbue a broad group of traders with a healthy respect for
support and resistance as a technical analysis tool.
Mikey's Methods and Reversal
Thingy became well known around the futures trading world as a logical, simplified set of
rules by which to learn to trade support and resistance.
Controversial as he was and although his
career as a
futures trading guru was short lived after losing an
altercation with the CFTC and leaving the
commodity futures business for
good, probably the greatest talent Mikey had was his
ability as a writer...to take a known concept and explain it in ordinary, everyday terms that
anyone could relate to and understand.
His humorously quirky writing style took a dry
subject and and often turned it into side splitting commentary in the
nightly emails that kept subscribers thoroughly entertained and coming back
for more.
Fast forward to the end of 2004, Erich Senft, CTA and his partner Tom Loge', CTA,
took over the reins. Both Erich and Tom were well known and respected support
and resistance strategists in their own right, both familiar
with the original Methods.
Tom and Erich have since parted ways,
and Erich is now the main trader at SupportandResistance.com.
